“In my program Night and Day, new soundscapes emerge where early music enters into dialogue with jazz and popular music. Henry Purcell’s One charming night is presented here in an arrangement I developed: the ukulele provides the rhythmic foundation, while Louis Durra at the jazz piano opens up spaces for improvisation. In this way, Purcell’s night music is placed in a pulsating, contemporary context – between groove, improvisation, and baroque poetry.”
